January 31, 2013

I woke up this morning hearing Ted exclaim "Alright!"  He was able to pull his feet an inch or so back towards his body. Another accomplishment!

Ted's "team" had their weekly meeting and the social worker shared their conversation.

  • Everyone on the team is pleased with his progress.
  • Transferring from wheelchair to bed and vice versa is improving. When he was admitted, it took 2 people with maximum assistance. Now, he is rated "maximum to moderate" assistance with 1 person (50-75% help)
  • They are working on strengthening his core.
  • He still has weak lower extremities and there is some movement in his lower legs.
  • His arms have become progressively stronger since beginning rehab.
They are estimating that he will be staying here at the rehab hospital for 3-4 weeks. After going home, he will initially need 24/7 assistance.

We've moved to another room that is a little bit larger and faces the courtyard at Perkins Rowe.
